Art at Auction
At the invitation of PONCHO, I donated a painting (left) for their 2006 5th Annual Invitational Fine Art Auction. PONCHO, (http://www.poncho.org) is an acronym for “Patrons of Northwest Civic, Cultural and Charitable Organizations.” Their mission is to enrich "the quality of life in this region through increasing resources and community support for the arts.” PONCHO has raised over $33 million to support more than 200 local arts organizations. In 2008, I was invited again to donate a second painting. The auction theme was “Addicted to Art” which is the title of the painting (right). Both paintings are in the style I developed as an editorial illustrator (see
coolillustration.com).
I was once complaining to my dad about how tough it can be at times as an artist and designer. He was quick to point out that whatever turns my career has taken, I have, one way or another, always made my way in the world of art and design. True enough, plenty of artists end up doing completely different things whereas I have never waited tables or had to do anything that wasn't somehow related to art. This is all I have known or wanted to do from my eariest days and for that, I am thankful. What's more, I have found time to do some painting of my own on the side. So above I'm opening the book to some of my own personal work. ... Enjoy!
