Portraits
I do portraits in oils on canvases I prepare myself. Portraits can be commissioned in any size. One to three sittings are usually required. Photos can be used for general proportions and composition planning (especially with childrens) during the sketch phase of the commission, otherwise I believes the best portrait results can be achieved when the technique is free from the contraints of photographic lighting. The best portraits are interesting in and of themselves. Rather than a mere likeness, a successful portrait captures something of the person's identity.
